Spring Septic Maintenance

The weather is getting warmer and the days are getting longer, so that means the time has come to think about the maintenance of your septic system. There a few things you can do on a nice day to get your system spring ready. Also, you could make an appointment with Dan Parr to get your system ready.

This time of the year is the perfect time to clear out the gutters and drains. There may be leaves and debris that may clog up and cause problems so it’s best to clear them out. While you’re doing that task, it’s a good idea to check the drain field and remove any unwanted debris from that area.  Speaking of spring cleaning, be aware of the products you use inside your home. Try and use natural products or cleaning products that are labelled “environmentally friendly.” Keep in mind that some products, like chlorine bleach, are harmful to a septic system.

Now is the time to call for a septic spring maintenance so that you will be ready for the spring. The winter may have had your septic system work a little harder with the extra visitors you had over the holidays or perhaps the weather caused damage like cracks in the pipes. It’s better to have maintenance done sooner rather than later. It’s also good time to have the system pumped. The team at Dan Parr will get you ready and take care of pumping if it’s needed. A spring maintenance service will let you if your system will need extra servicing to keep it running smooth. If you have the professionals at Dan Parr take care of your spring maintenance, you will avoid costly repairs down the road. A thorough inspection of the tank and drain field needs to take place in the spring.

Hopefully over the winter, as well as year around, you and your household members understood how to live with a septic tank system. Perhaps remind everyone:

·        Think before flushing. Then toilet is not garbage can.

·        Avoid pouring grease and other food particles down the drain.

·        Use water when only needed

Dan Parr will take of your septic tank needs while offering waterproofing and sewer services. They will share advice on your system maintenance and will recommend the proper care for it.
